WF Brass.JPG - WF - Brass oil wick lamp with chained wick pick and spout cover, markedW F on hook flange and 260 on lid, base dia 2 7/8 in., 3 in. tall to lid, brass wick cover marked with crossed gad and hammer, beautiful lamp probably of contemporary manufacturing (An article in Eureka #6, p 13, by Dave Johnson features a nearly identical lamp as that shown but with a number of 916 rather than 260 as marked on this lamp. It is a beautiful and heavy example which undoubtedly never saw the inside of a mine. It is not clear when the lamp or family of lamps was made or who the manufacturer is but it appears of European manufacture and probably contemporary production. An interesting lamp nevertheless.)
